We received very complete directions and information from the owner. This is a very spacious unit with a fantastic view. Will stay here again.
The unit was modern. We entered the property through a construction site. Dirt marks on the wall and bed linen.
Great overnight facilities and we would stay there again. Security will be better once the outer boundary wall is completed.

Unit was very tidy with everything you need. However, there was a problem with the sliding door and it wouldn't open or close at all without lifting off the track. We had to sleep with an open door because we couldn't lock the door. No one to help!
We unfortunately only spent one night there, but enjoyed it immensely. The rooms were incredibly beautiful and luxurious with the most beautiful view over the dam.

Although we did not meet our host face to face, the host provided appreciated and friendly telephone assistance when we arrived. Thank you very much! The unit is neatly and stylishly equipped, although the fridge offers very limited space for cold products that need cooling on the long journey. Shifting power without standby power - especially when arriving in the dark - is also somewhat frustrating, but the beautiful view when the day breaks might make everything a little more bearable!

We only stayed one night there and were impressed with the neat unit. Beautiful view of the dam. Driveway is very steep and some of the other guests had difficulty driving up it. Safe parking and quiet surroundings. The fridge in the unit was very small (smaller than a bar fridge) and not very cold. The fact that it has no freezer compartment is inconvenient as we had to travel further with hot food and even hotter ice packs.
The room was clean. The room had everything a traveler would want in a self-catering unit. I think the price was very fair and the instructions the owner sent were enough to clear any doubts. We travel a lot and the accommodation at Gariepview is definitely a place we would recommend. Very close to good restaurants.

Beautiful view of Gariep Dam, quality linen, close to several places where meals can be enjoyed. Air conditioner was a lifesaver during my visit (37°C). Good communication by the owner.
There are no curtains everywhere, which makes the room very light at night, as well as less private. Presumably they are still busy with painting and renovation outside. The entrance gate does not lock and must be opened and closed manually. Prompt, friendly service. Check-in and check-out is very convenient. Tidy. Beautiful view - If the above points were not here, it would be 5*!

Was very peaceful with beautiful views. The second bed is low but surprisingly comfortable to get up from.
Not recommended for day visit. Very hot area. Pool or hot tub would be an option. Air conditioning is not sufficient for a large open room. View is a bonus.

Beautiful spacious accommodation!
Neat and modern place with a beautiful view. Very well located. There is no garden, so only suitable for 1x overnight stay. I never complain, but you wouldn't know if I didn't mention it either. By the bed is a glass door. The upstairs unit had the light on through the night which brightly lit our room all night. It's like trying to sleep with the lights on. On the other side of the bed is the door that opens with a wave of the hand in front of an ultraviolet light. The light bothered us all evening, because if you put something in front of it, the door opens. Did no one think of that? We slept badly, despite the beautiful place. It is clear that the owners did not stay in the place themselves.
Gariepview is a gorgeous unit with the most beautiful views. Unfortunately no mention was made of an incredibly steep driveway and I do feel this should be mentioned. My little car couldn't make it up the driveway. Fortunately there was a young chap there who was able to show us a back entrance over a very rocky and gravel road - more suited to a 4 wheel drive vehicle. Secondly, perhaps we have just been spoilt but we are accustomed to milk and rusks. There was ellis brown coffee creamer but that's just not the same is it?. In the main bedroom area only 2 sides had curtains. There was a big window on the left hand side of the bed without any curtains. With the result that no-one was sleeping past sunrise. In the bathroom there are industrial type soap dispensers which just did not fit with the overall aesthetics of the unit. Every time I washed my hands I felt I was in a roadside toilet. In the TV area the only seating are stiff chairs, which were impossible to relax in, around a table and a double bed, but in the main bedroom area there are two couches - I would have thought the other way around would be better. The outside braai area has a marble working surface on a pedestal. The marble had a crack right through it. I took a photograph and sent it to the host not wanting him to think it was us who had broken it. He said that he was aware of it. All of these are relatively small things but my largest concern is the video camera focussed on the living areas of the property. I feel that this is totally unacceptable and extremely invasive. If the host does not trust his guests then he should stop hosting. Needless to say we will not be staying there again.

Gariepview is a very nice place to stay for an overnight stay. We did experience problems with workers coming into the room before the check-out time as if they were unaware that the room was booked. It was disturbing. You also have to check out very early (09:00).

Gariepview is a peaceful accommodation option with a beautiful view of the Gariep Dam. We had a nice stay here. One's privacy is unfortunately limited because the large windows are not yet fully covered with curtains, especially the one window to the left of the bed.

Gariepview has a very nice view and is suitable for 1 night's stay. Everything was clean and tidy and the flashlight available for loadshedding was a very good idea. The main gate does not lock at all and anyone can just push the gate open and enter the property. The mattresses were rock hard and it felt like sleeping on a concrete block. Curtains don't keep the sun out. One curtain also had a tear. The glass shower tray was broken and you had to pack on the floor.

The room was completely different from what we saw on the website. The mattresses were rock hard. The second bed is on the floor, the kitchen is tiny and the air conditioning didn't help much. The pictures we got were of the apartment on the second floor.
Gariepview has an excellent view, clean and tidy, but I would only make one recommendation for a better sleeping place in the second bedroom if you have booked for 4 adults. A sofa bed that is almost 10cm off the ground doesn't really work comfortably. Two single beds would have worked much better. For small young children it might work, but not at all for elderly adults. It needs urgent attention.

Quiet overnight stay, everything tidy and what you need for an overnight stay after a long drive, easy to find a place and lovely view of the dam.
Overall stay was good, the unit was clean. I did find the bathroom had a bit of an odour. There is an adjoining glass door to another unit which troubles me, as when I was off to bed the lights shine right through, making our room quite bright, which made it a little difficult to fall asleep. It rained consistently through the evening and night, causing the rain to overflow from the roof above onto an awning above our door, making quite a loud sound. Other than that, all was good.
Place is neat, clean and equipped with everything you might need away from home. We slept very well and will definitely go back again.

It was really excellent.
We could see a beautiful sunrise over the pond in the room where we stayed. Unfortunately the rest of the stay was not up to standard. Half a soda bottle was put under the ceiling where it was leaking, the broken toilet window was taped with brown cello tape and the bedding was dirty. The shower only had 2 temperatures, boiling hot or freezing cold. The yard's gate does not lock and must be opened and closed by hand. There was coffee and tea, but it would have been nice if there was just some milk as well. The outside of the house also needs attention.

Wash clean, neat and easy.
It's a very nice place, but it doesn't look like the photos anymore. One bed was also broken. It is very steep for cars that are low underneath. I will not book there again. The shower's water was also cold and we got there late, so one would think that by then the water would at least be warm. After such a long time on the road, that's all you need - a good bed to sleep on. I give them about 4/10.
Had a great stay. Clean and comfortable. I would recommend putting a curtain or blind at the window next to the bed, as people from the stop street at the hotel and street can see into your bedroom, especially the main honeymoon suite. But otherwise, what a beautiful place. Very nice.
The unit is clean and tidy, with all the necessary facilities for a comfortable overnight stay. The sunrise over the pond was amazing. A suggestion I can make might be a shaded bench in front of the unit to appreciate the view.

Beautiful view of Gariep Dam from Gariepview. The unit we occupied had a sleeper couch that was not suitable for teenagers as it was very uncomfortable. The mattress on the other bed was also very hard.

The room was neat, clean and comfortable. The braai facilities in room 1 in particular are inadequate. A pair of tongs would be nice too. The electronic gate did not work and had to be opened by hand which was very inconvenient as the entrance is very stylish. Overall, the room met our expectations.
The host was very friendly and responded immediately when the plugs tripped in the evening. The room was well equipped and very clean. Gariepview is great value for money, and I would highly recommend this establishment.

We enjoy the view you have to be able to look over the Gariep dam like this. Everything on the premises is neat and clean, as is the room and bathroom. For self-catering there is everything we needed. Due to our satisfaction, we recommended Gariepview to our friends who also stayed there and they were also very satisfied with Gariepview's setup. Will definitely stay there again if we are in the area.

Beautiful location with excellent marketing photos. One of the few places where the photos capture the atmosphere of the accommodation. I would go back anytime. Nice restaurants for every taste. Sufficient grocery store and good roads. Really a must for someone who just wants to rest!
Very easy and good communication from the owner. The load shedding causes the door to not be locked. Possibly just a warning that the door should then be closed. Beautiful bathroom and large shower with hot water. Will definitely visit again.
On arrival there was no gas and was only replaced that evening after a call. Could have checked ahead of time.
Really nice place and comfortable place except for the night there it was extremely cold and also with load shedding there is no water which makes things really difficult, but overall I would go again.
The place was beautiful. Just a shame the purchasing power ran out during the night and there was no power from 12pm in the evening until after 7am in the morning. We couldn't really sleep, as my husband sleeps with a sleep machine. There was also an amount that we have to pay because we moved the stay by 1 night.
The dam and dam wall is a good attraction.
During load shedding the hot water was freezing, which I understand, but a few hours later it was still not hot. Taking a cold bath in winter is not a pleasant experience.

We stayed overnight, 4 in family. The house's entrance walls need painting and plants in the built plant flower beds will round off the self-catering house nicely. On the premises was a container, during the night loud noise from the container. Difficulty sleeping with the constant sound. Water pressure next morning in pipes very weak, could not shower. The interior decoration basically to nothing.

Wi-Fi was out of data. In the two days I stayed, it was not recharged, so no wi-fi. The gate needs you to get out of the car to open and close it, the least could be to have the motorised gate with keypad accessible from the driver's window and when going out it uses the sensors to open the gate.

Gariepview is a very good, new overnight accommodation. The room is neat with a spacious bathroom and 'vintage look' red bar fridge. Eskom remains a problem. The view is very nice over the dam.
Unfortunately, safety is an issue. The outside gate to the street does not lock (the gate motor seems to be broken, and pushes open by hand). The door to the apartment is electrically locked with a code, but when the power goes out the door is open. There is a lock on the inside, but it catches so the door cannot be locked. There is also a sensor on the inside that opens with movement, and it sits right next to the curtain, so when the curtain is drawn, the door opens. This is probably not a problem, but in the time of high crime one sleeps with one eye open. Otherwise the service is excellent and the host very pleasant.
Would have preferred a shower instead of a bath but is not a complaint.
The gate to the street was not locked. Anyone could push it open and get in, that's my safety choice. Otherwise I can't complain about anything.

I was last there when the yachts were lying on their sides. So it was nice to be able to see the dam so full and the beautiful view was great️.

Good, clean room, but bath with no shower is a disadvantage, especially for older people. Front gate does not lock creating possible security risk. Teabags and UHT milk sachets would be beneficial - sparse tea/coffee supplies.
Very neat and clean. Location offers a beautiful view of the dam. Gate motor out of order so it has to be opened and closed manually which is not a problem but it doesn't lock so access to the premises is very easy which could be a security risk.

The place is small, but very neat. However, the small soft drink fridge (without a freezer unit) is not sufficient for travelers who require freezing facilities. As a halfway stop, you want to keep your freezer frozen, refreeze your freezer blocks and just get everything extra cold for the road ahead. The small fridge is intended for cold drinks and is not big enough. Unnecessary space is wasted in the bathroom while the sleeping area has very little space. The space could be better utilized to house a full size refrigerator as well. However, everything is very nice and tidy, new and clean.

I towed a 4 meter trailer which could not be accommodated on site. Had to park the vehicle and trailer at the Hotel and request security to keep an eye overnight. No issues with vehicle safety, but was not impressed at all. The web page should clearly indicate no access for vehicles with trailers to prospective guests!

The ramp is very steep, not easy access. There is no office, there was no one to receive you, personal contact only WA or phone. Probably modern way. The units are keyless which works very well. No WIFI code provided.

Of all my bookings this was the most disappointing one. The bedding was dirty, the shower could not be set cold or hot, only hot and much hotter, the shower was dirty and no undercover parking. It is very nice and new but needs attention with the above.

The security system does not work if there is loadshedding. It's an electronic lock on the room's door that turns off automatically when the load is off. Room can lock from inside but not from outside. Other than that we had a wonderful stay.
We accepted that it would only have a partial view of the dam. The overall location is really good for the front units but not so for this unit which is a 'back room', specified as a partial view but the problem was two airconditioning units ran intermittently throughout the night, one directly over the front door (partial view) and the only other 2 windows overlooked the plumbing and geysers for upstairs.
Can only do one thing: to put up dark curtains for the side window.
Upon arrival we did not know how to get into the gate. Called no, after which was told that they had sent instructions throughout the day. Later saw that it was already sent on July 20. Unfortunately, I can't remember that far back. We originally booked the honeymoon suite and Gariep View informed us that it was full, but they had another place available. My reason for the specific discussion regarding the braai and stoep. So I assumed the other unit would be the same. Arrived there, no barbecue, no porch, no outdoor furniture, not even wine glasses. We were told via phone to carry the table and chairs outside (I have a shoulder injury) and walk from unit to unit asking for a glass of wine. Apparently the wine glasses were broken after the weekend and they still had to go and buy them. (It was already Thursday). No barbecue. Against the wall was a lopsided braai, which the owner told us via phone we could use. Then he informed us that it is actually just a place to stay and does not have all the facilities. But the 1st place I wanted to book has all the amenities. I don't understand well. In the kitchen drawer there is a braai tong, but there is no braai. To a beater. But it's only overnight facilities? You have a beautiful view of the pond, but no furniture or a place to view it. And no sight of the owner.

We had a big downpour and couldn't use the braai because the facilities are not covered. However, we had a great time at De Stijl hotel which is within walking distance!

It was a good stay, nice location and safe. Pretty steep entrance to drive into. The toilet brush was filthy, the bathroom window was taped together and the air-conditioner leaked onto the platform above the bed (where I unfortunately put my phone and it was water into the phone speaker). The water (shower and bathroom sink) was very hot and would randomly get hot although it was on the cold end so make it difficult to shower without getting burnt here and there.

Magnetic security door locks don't work when it's loadshedding and our door couldn't lock. One faucet is completely loose in room 2.

I stopped at Gariepview on my way to Cape Town. The view is beautiful and it is so quiet and peaceful. The owner responded to my messages straight away which I really appreciated. So, I booked again on my way back from Cape Town.
Controlling the hot water in the shower requires an engineering degree, otherwise great stay.
Refrigerator in room no. 1 is too small.
The only thing that needs to be added is curtains! Was a bit strange that the windows in the room didn't have curtains - besides privacy - it lets the sun in really early. Otherwise a great place.

Wonderful view from private suite and room 4. Arrangements and check-in work great, well communicated throughout. For bigger parties - not great privacy and the sleeper couch is extremely hard, would recommend it for couples any time.

The private suite accommodation is excellent, I would however make some recommendations: A roof/pergola to be installed over the outside braai area, as it cannot be used when there is rain. During loadshedding, the electric locks on the doors open automatically, giving access to the rooms, this is a safety and security risk. Keys were fastened to the doors, so could not be taken with us when we went out. Look at making keys available when there is no power.
Will most definitely use this location's again.

No blind in front of kitchen window, even though it's behind and not visible from the road, dispenser doesn't work properly, cold and hot just attached to wall with koki, looks bad, electronic lock works all the time with remotes and is activated all night. Paving that's half finished looks a bit dodgy, otherwise it's a lovely place for the price. It just doesn't look nice with all the gas pipes and wires hanging all around the house, looks like a temporary project that is half done and it's such a nice location and house structure, really a shame. Maybe they're not done yet. But we've been there a few times and it still looks the same. Braai place, but no facilities to braai. Grid etc. and maybe complimentary wood or something like that.
Only inconvenience was that there was no shower in our room, we did not specifically ask for it. Very luxurious.

Our reserved room was not prepared, so Heinrich put us in the honeymoon suite. It was stunning and the suite is truly fit for royalty. The view is fantastic and we immediately moved all the curtains away. Clothes were unnecessary, because passers-by cannot look into the suite. Two pensioners on honeymoon. Delicious!

Felt more like a hospital than a B&B. Clean, clinical, and comfortable, but for us a bit sterile and without character. The pics shown below are accurate, but that is not what we saw on the website when I booked. Nowhere to sit and enjoy the view if you booked downstairs.
Check in was easy hassle free, two double beds, kitchenette, fridge, shower, TV, air conditioning. Home is on a hill, not by the pond.

The accommodation was beautiful! One of the nicest places we have stayed at. The owners have really made the Private Suite beautiful.
Heincke was a good host and available all the time via WhatsApp. Unit 2 is spacious, neat and clean. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need for a self-catering unit. The shower is nice and big. We did struggle a bit with the gas geyser. The bed has a firm mattress which contributed to a good night's rest. The guest house is a short distance from the cafe and hangout which is a plus for peace and safety.
The doors open with loadshedding. The maglocks do not have backup batteries. So if you are not there your unit is basically open when the power goes out.

Pictures of the smaller apartments facing the dam should be shown in the pictures and not with the lace curtains obstructing the view. Lester the caretaker was super friendly and helpful. We felt very safe there.

Stylish, but the cleanliness of the units could be improved. Trash had not been emptied and cigarette butts and ashes from previous tenants were also visible in the trash. As a non-smoker it was quite pleasant. There were no on-site personnel available to report this. Ashtrays are provided and the No Smoking notice is very small and invisible which makes it attractive to smokers. There had definitely been smoking in our unit before. Apart from that, we will definitely go back there again.

We had a bad experience from water flooding from the top rooms into our room and had to make plans ourselves to get it dry. No help from the managers. We also had no light at the barbeque area, luckily we had our own emergency light to help out there. Otherwise, the rooms are very good equipped and comfortable.
The owner was very pleasant although we did not have the opportunity to meet him.

The photos and the view from our room were a bit misleading. There were also no candles or battery lights to use during "loadshedding". Gas geyser also not working during loadshedding, had to wait for power to come on to be able to shower.

The cupboard in the room is arranged directly next to the bed and is dangerous if you get up at night and the corner of the cupboard hits you on the head. The bath's inlet pipe is too short, with the result that hot water flows in more slowly. The glass shelf above the bath is poorly installed and you can't put anything on it. No storage space in bathroom for any toiletries/bathroom necessities. Glass door lets in a lot of light from the stairwells which can be a hindrance. You should never forget your code or have it with you because if the door is locked and your phone is inside, you're in trouble!
We were received very kindly by the staff of the guest house, and the host went out of his way to arrange extra sleeping space for our little girl at short notice. The room is stylishly and practically furnished, especially for load shedding, because the room is equipped with an electric boiler, and also a boiler for the gas stove. The view over the Gariepdam is beautiful, especially at sunrise and sunset, and the area is nice and quiet. We will definitely book Gariepview guest house again in the future for our long journeys between Mpumalanga and the Western Cape.

We were on our honeymoon and this was one of our favorite places. The place is very big and luxurious with a very nice view of the dam. Wake up to the best sunrise. Was only there one night but would like to spend a weekend next time. Owner is very friendly and helpful. Just be careful with which car you go, the drive up to the place is pretty steep. Had to do it twice before I could get up. Place is very safe with very modern access.

The unit was very neat and clean. The safety was not as desired. The electric gate had to be opened manually so everyone who wanted could enter. The electric door lock unlocked if the curtain was drawn and came too close to the sensor. The electric door lock unlocks when the DStv decoder's remote control is used. I don't know if someone can unlock the door from the outside with a DStv remote control. The trash can in the kitchen does not open properly. (It was also like that in January 2022). The shower faucet's handle is loose, which makes controlling the water very difficult.

I struggled with the access to parking, very steep hump and because it was raining it was impossible to drive out of the hump with a buggy, for that you would need at least a 4x4. However, there was an alternative parking place for the buggy a short distance away. We struggled with the hot water in the shower which was on and off a lot and it was almost impossible to set it to the right temperature. This is typically what happens with gas geysers.

We booked the honeymoon private suite and were looking forward to view the dam from the top floor through all glass windows. We were stuffed into a room on the ground floor. Booking number 4 made no sense to me, as I don't know where the room numbers are. I called the agent who assured me that we will be booked in the honeymoon suite on the top floor. She even sent me the video of the suite. There were no occupants for the night and if the owner of agents cared at all, they could have moved us up. I will for sure never booked Gariepview again.

Probably one of the most beautiful environments in our country. Road winds through "mountain pass" to guest house from where you have the most beautiful view of Gariepdam. Luxurious accommodation, very modern, comfortable and tidy. Definitely a must to spend the night there.
The unit is very spacious. Everything was spotless and the kitchen was fully equipped. The sofa bed in the living room is one of the most comfortable I have ever slept on. All that bothered us was that the smoke from the mobile grills of other units, as well as cigarette smoke from guests who smoke in front of their units, seriously disturbed us. Perhaps the owners could consider a fixed permanent smoking area and braai area at the back of the open area of the premises? The sunrise over the pond was very beautiful every morning.
Room smelled badly of smoke, towels were not clean - previous people's toothpaste marks were still on one towel. Beds very uncomfortable.

Very clean and tidy. Well equipped and it was lovely to walk down to the dam after a long day on the road. The entrance to the unit is very stylish. The bed is extremely high and hard for our taste. Shorter people, the elderly and those who struggle with hips etc may struggle to get on the bed. Only a sheer curtain in windshield and we had to hang a blanket over the rail for the outside lights. The electronic locking mechanism shines a bright blue light at night and too close to the curtain which makes the mechanism not work as intended.
The ramp to the parking lot is very stylish and it is difficult to drive up there with a normal vehicle with luggage. There was a double booking and guests arrived and I was in the unit for 1 more night. The hallway light at the private unit was on all night lighting up unit 3, I had a hard time sleeping Thursday night.

We were kept informed all the way by Heincke with important information regarding access to the guest house and frequent inquiries from him to hear if we were okay. Gariepview has a breathtaking view, is very luxurious and neatly furnished with every detail of the best quality. From the bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen, lounge and dining room, the attention to quality was just amazing to us.

The maintenance man didn't even have his own cell phone or air time to communicate with owner who was out of town - had to use my phone and air time and still problem was not resolved during our stay.

Along the way informed that we have to use other unit, car gate wouldn't open 2nd time and we had to drive through field to get into site. They did tell us how to unlock the car gate, but did not follow up or make an effort to come and see for themselves. Had to unlock gate with key next morning to get out. Available coffee bags were Frisco and loose light was bulb in socket with wire to power plug.
First time we sleep at Gariepview, a special place with a beautiful view of the pond. Will definitely stay there again.
Fantastic accommodation and view, staff friendly and helpful.
We were looking for a clean and tidy place to stay overnight not too far from the Cape, so that one can comfortably drive it in one day without rushing or getting up too early. On the other hand, it should not be too far from Potchefstroom. This was the ideal stopping place with a small OR not far from the accommodation where one could buy what was needed to use the evening. The one thing that is a shame that there are no braai facilities. Although there are many glasses and other crockery, there were no wine glasses either.
This new place with the best view and unbeatable facilities is highly recommended. They will see us again, definitely.

The directions and street address were not clear and there is also another accommodation with the same name in Gariep. I would like to suggest that the curtains be replaced with "blockout" linings and that the glass door next to the bed be slightly sealed. Lights from outside shine directly through that glass.

All arrangements regarding access regarding the gate and the apartment's door were arranged by telephone. Apparently the owner does not live there himself. Everything was clean and tidy and nothing was missing.

The buildings are obviously newly build and still need. A lot of work. The electricity and plumbing are not at all up to standard. Each unit should have own DB box and plugs for fridges etc. Shower needs attention as water supply is terrible.

We used unit 4. The view is truly breathtakingly beautiful. The unit is nice clean and tidy, everything you need for an overnight stay or even longer. Only comment is regarding the water in the shower. One moment the water is scalding hot and the next moment ice cold without even adjusting the taps. Very neatly located near the hotel. The photo of the room was different from the room we stayed in. The upper room was in the picture. So upon arrival then you get confused. We couldn't get the gate open when we wanted to go out and it wasn't because of the wrong code we put in. It could be from the rain or the small children playing outside. Our bakkie's trunk smelled badly of smoke, we had to struggle to get up to the hump because the bakkie also had no load on it.

We see that Gariepview's grounds are still under construction, as the paving is not yet finished. The owner must build sufficient braai facilities as this is a necessity for most travelers who spend the night there.

The atmosphere was also peaceful and the view to the dam was beautiful. Everything was neat and clean. Place is modern and the electronic code systems make everything much more convenient.
The unit does not appear to be complete. It is missing blinds or curtains from several windows. The unit is also very hot and the small air conditioner is completely inadequate for large open rooms. Windows had to be opened for cooler air, but this could let in mosquitoes. The lights are very bright, and the unit needs a dimmer light especially in room. Just one bedside light that isn't actually a bedside lamp.

A beautiful overnight house, a few kilometers from the N1, high on the hill with a beautiful view of the Gariep Dam. Check-in and check-out is a breeze, with codes sent to you via WA - so you can come and go as you please and open the gates and rooms with a code - no keys. The family unit has two nice and spacious rooms with its own kitchen and bathroom. The air conditioning makes the rooms nice and cool and the shower is wonderful (I always feel that if you have had a good shower, your day just feels better). Mattresses are nice and hard (maybe too hard for some people), bedding is clean and tidy and the rooms have multi-point power plugs. Rooms are white, gray and black, which creates a nice clean feel (but may feel too clinical for some). For us it was a wonderful experience on the round trip. Will stay there again!

It was so easy to access the place, all communicated electronically via Whatsapp. We had a great time, it's the perfect place to spend the night on a road trip.
Gariepview is exactly what the name suggests. The view is incredibly beautiful and the unit is very spacious, neatly and comfortably furnished, with good linen and beds. Getting in and out is also very comfortable with a keyless system. The only possible negative point is that the unit has many windows but no curtains/blinds in front of all of them, so the sun wakes you up quite early if you are used to sleeping in a very dark room.

The unit is brand new, modern and very nice. There was a power outage in the entire area for several hours and there is no provision for emergency power. The gas stove was not connected so we could not make food or coffee. It was very inconvenient.

New place. Luxury. Incredible view. Teething problems: 1. Curtain on front door activates Maglock and opens door! 2. No gas for stovetop to cook with. 3. Window in toilet broken and covered with masking tape. 4. Toilet leaks badly! 5. Kitchen window looking at bed. No curtain (lace curtain). 6. Worried about raw sewage leaking out the front gate!
The outside porch was slightly covered in dust due to the drilling for water and the people who were drilling right next to our unit until 6 o'clock in the evening. It was inconvenient and a lot of noise.
This is only a review for apartment 3. Modern, well-equipped room with the impersonal atmosphere of a hotel room. Lovely shower. Full DStv. Air conditioning. A bit dusty, because construction is not yet complete but a temporary situation. No view from the room on a pond or on a mountain but staring into a fence and houses that are higher up. Private barbecue area. If you sit outside at the table and chairs that are provided, you can look out on the pond. Mattress built into cement block that makes one quickly learn to keep one's toes off the bed. Found it a bit loud and uncomfortable but partner was satisfied. There is a glass door that connects to the rest of the house where a light was on all the time and together with the thin curtain at the window the room was brightly lit which made complete rest difficult. Would recommend that there are blockout curtains also placed in front of small window and hallway door. Feel like houses at the top can see through small window with transparent curtain. Trash in bathroom was dirty from previous guests' trash. Room meets purpose for quick overnight and early drive.

The overall silence is fantastic. It is very easy to relax and recharge the batteries. For us the bed was too firm (but for the next person it might fit again). It was quite strange to be in a house without curtains. I would like the option to draw curtains in the sleeping area in the evening when the lights are on and in the morning (early) when the sun comes up and shines right on the bed.

Did a flower tour and slept at various places. On our way back, Gariep, our last overnight stop, was probably also the cleanest. What you see in the pictures is what you get, it is very nice clean and peaceful with a very nice view over the dam. Keep it up!

This suite is located on the top floor of the guest house and is accessed via an indoor staircase. This suite has 1 bedroom furnished with a extra large king-size bed and a comfortable double sleeper couch, and there is 1 bathroom fitted with a free-standing bath and a walk-in shower, a basin, and a toilet. The kitchenette area contains a fridge with a bottom freezer, a microwave, a gas stove, and an electric oven. In addition, the suite contains air-conditioning in the main bedroom, a TV and Premium package DStv and free Wi-Fi. The suite opens onto a patio, which offers a gas braai facility overlooking the sailboats in the bay area, Gariep dam-wall, beautiful mountains, breathtaking sunrises and full moons over the Gariepdam. No generator backup for load-shedding. Please note that Gariepview cannot accommodate any large/vehicle trailers or caravans inside the establishment.
Accommodation at Gariepview consists of 5 suites, which can accommodate between 2 to 4 adults. The top-floor Private/Honeymoon suite can accommodate 4 persons and boasts large windows with 180-degree views of the dam. This suite has 1 bedroom furnished with an extra-length king-size bed and a double sleeper couch. The suite features an en-suite bathroom and a dressing area; a kitchenette with basic appliances to cook meals, and a balcony with a gas braai facility overlooking the area and dam.
The mountain-facing suite can accommodate up to 2 persons and consists of 1 bedroom and 1 bathroom. This suite also features a kitchenette with basic appliances to microwave meals and private braai area.
The dam-facing suite can accommodate up to 2 persons and consists of 1 bedroom and 1 bathroom equipped with a bath. This suite also features a kitchenette with basic appliances to microwave meals but no braai area.
The semi-dam-facing suite can accommodate up to 2 persons and consists of 1 bedroom and 1 bathroom. This suite also features a kitchenette with basic appliances to microwave meals and a private braai area.
The 4 Sleep Dam-Facing suite can accommodate up to 4 persons and consists of 1 open plan bedroom furnished with an extra-length Queen-size bed and a double sleeper couch, a dining area and a bathroom with a shower. This suite also features a kitchenette with basic appliances to microwave meals but no braai area.
In addition, all suites contain air-conditioning, Premium package DSTV channels and a TV for media entertainment. The guest house has 24-hour camera surveillance and offers secure parking behind electronic gates on the property.
